Say hey to Jarret - our newest member of the Third Generation crew! π
Before joining the team, Jarret spent years painting movie and TV sets. If you see him on the jobsite, ask him about it - he’s got some seriously cool behind-the-scenes stories from builds you might actually recognize!
Jarret brings a ton of experience to every project and if he’s painting your home, you’re in great hands. So stoked to have him on the team - give him a wave if you see him out with the crews this summer! π

A proper exterior repaint isn’t just about the look - it’s about protecting your home before small issues become expensive ones.

Did you know, painting has been in our family since 1977? π
Brook’s grandfather started Nullmeyer Painting & Decorating. His dad carried on the trade with his own business. And now Brook runs Third Generation Painters here in Vernon, BC.
When expertise gets passed down through three generations, certain standards just become part of how you operate. How you show up to a jobsite. How you keep things clean and communicate with homeowners so there are never any surprises. How you wrap up a project and leave someone’s home better than you found it.
If you’re looking for a crew that treats your home that way, we’d love to hear from you - drop a comment or send us a DM. π

We’re back with another video in our design series π
And this month we’re taking a look at colourful kitchens.
We love a crisp white kitchen - but let’s be real… colour done right can look magazine worthy π
Lately, we’ve been loving:
• Rich greens
• Navy blues
• Soft blacks that still feel warm
The key isn’t just going bold - it’s choosing tones that feel elevated and pairing them properly with elements like countertops, hardware, and lighting.
Not ready to commit to a full colour kitchen?
Even something as simple as a painted island can completely transform the space.
*All kitchen inspo shown is from Pinterest.
If you could pick any colour for your kitchen, what are you going with? π

New kitchen cabinets loading π
This kitchen is currently in the middle of a cabinet refinishing project, and today the doors are getting sprayed in our downtown Vernon cabinet shop.
It’s always fun seeing the transformation start to happen - especially when a dark wood finish starts turning into a bright new colour.
These will be installed back in the kitchen next week, so stay tuned for the final reveal! π

Thinking about getting your kitchen cabinets refinished but not totally sure what the process looks like? π
In this video, Brook walks through exactly how we approach our cabinet refinishing projects.
Here’s what’s involved:
π Cabinet doors are removed and brought back to our dedicated cabinet shop here in Vernon
π They’re cleaned, degreased and scuff sanded, then primed and sprayed with two coats of cabinet-grade paint for that smooth, factory-style finish
π Back in your home, we set up a contained spray area, carefully mask everything off, and spray the boxes and frames - with ventilation out a window to help reduce fumes
No brushes. No rollers. Just a proper sprayed finish π
If you’re looking to update your kitchen but keep your existing layout, refinishing can be a really practical option.
As always, if you have questions about cabinet refinishing in Vernon, drop them below or send us a message!

Picking a white paint for your home seems simple… until you’re staring at 47 swatches on your wall π«
That’s why we’re starting a new monthly series where we’ll share design and colour inspiration to help you feel more confident about your home projects!
First up, our most requested topic… what white paint should I choose?
Here are three we (and our customers) love:
Swiss Coffee at 75% strength: soft, slightly warm, but still beautifully neutral
Silver Satin: a great option if you’re covering darker walls and want better coverage
White Dove: bright, balanced, and timeless
Have a shade you’re debating? Let us know in the comments or send us a DM. We’re happy to weigh in π

Just bought a house in Vernon?
Before you move in is the perfect time to repaint - not just the walls, but also the doors and trim.
When the space is still empty, our crew can:
β
Spray doors and trim for a smooth, brush-free finish
β
Cut and roll the walls for crisp lines and seamless coverage
β
Get in and out before your furniture arrives
It’s the ideal window if you’re dealing with scuffed walls or just want a colour that feels more like you!

Booked a repaint but stuck on which colour to choose? We get it. With so many shades to pick from, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed π
Here’s a simple way to test samples like a pro so you can feel confident in your final choice:
β
Pick 3 shades you’re considering
β
Use a mini roller (not a brush) so you don’t leave texture marks behind
β
Apply a thin, even coat and blend the edges - this helps avoid visible lines or bumps under your final paint job
β
Test your samples on at least 3 different walls so you can see how the colour shifts in different lighting
β
Let them fully dry and sit with them for a few days - the right one will stand out
Still unsure? Send us your top picks and we’re happy to weigh in π

Colders days inside have us dreaming of exterior season 2026 already!
In honour of our favourite painting season, here are some of my honourable mentions for the 2025
That's it, that's all!
Our exterior season is wrapped up and we are back indoors for the winter.
Our last full exterior repaint in Coldstream with our favourite exterior paint, the ultra-premium Benjamin Moore Aura with it's UV-resistance to protect against fading and proprietary resin so it sticks like glue long-term, was another great success π€
We lost track of how many gallons of Aura we used this summer so we must be on pace break another record π

We are expanding our flight!
A new-to-us Chevy Avalanche as our new crew truck to go along with our GMC Sierra.
We have decided to keep an all @generalmotors fleet. This vehicle was purchased new at @bannistergmsalmonarm and serviced at the dealer ever since.
It will head down to Vernon to join us at @bannistervernongm for ongoing service and maintenance going forth.

Summer might be winding down, but we’re still in the thick of some of our biggest exterior projects of the season — including a few projects up at Silver Star that we can’t wait to share. π
In the meantime, here’s a look back at some of our favourite projects from this summer so far.
As the nights get cooler, our focus shifts to our fall schedule: interior painting and cabinet refinishing that fills our schedule for the winter months as we brighten up homes for shorter days ahead.

Welcome back to our Ask Brook series - where we tackle your top home maintenance questions!
Today we’re diving into one we get all the time:
How do you know when it’s time to re-stain your wood exterior? π
Here are a few signs to watch for:
1οΈβ£ Your stain’s lost its luster - especially if you’re using a high-quality product like Sikkens (which we love)
2οΈβ£ It’s been more than 2–4 years - that’s the typical maintenance window where you can recoat without heavy sanding or costly prep
3οΈβ£ You’re seeing peeling, flaking, or dry patches - especially on walls that get hit with the most sun
And here’s something that might surprise you:
Although it seems counterintuitive, the more often you stay on top of maintenance coats, the less prep is needed long-term - meaning a more cost-effective and longer-lasting finish for your home!
Got a painting or staining question for Brook?
Drop it in the comments - we’re taking requests for the next episode! π
